Arsenal finally display a ruthlessness in front of goal

Goals have been scarce for the Gunners so far this season. That was until yesterday when the flood gates well and truly opened, as they equaled their season tally in 90 minutes, finally reflecting their territorial dominance on the scoreboard.

Creating chances has not been a problem for Arsenal, with creative hubs Cazorla and Ozil carving out 25 and 24 opportunities respectively and 114 as a collective unit, the most in the Premier League. It all came together for Wenger’s men yesterday as the imagination of Cazorla and Ozil was duly capitalised upon by the likes of Walcott and Sanchez.

Both, along with Oliver Giroud, have been guilty of squandering gilt-edged chances, keeping their opponents in the match when the contest should have been put to bed if it were not for wastefulness in the final third.

The trio were able to ultimately cash in on the midfield’s superiority, as they took full advantage of the time and space afforded to them by Leicester. It could have even been more with the visitors ambushing the Foxes’ goal throughout the match, but the sight of a fluid attacking display capped off with a handful of goals is the blueprint of what Arsenal can and should produce on a more regular basis.
