Sunderland cannot stop losing

After nine games, Sunderland still cannot find momentum. They have conceded 19 goals in this time and have suffered six defeats. Their 1-0 defeat to West Brom had a feeling of inevitability about it and that does not read for the club’s survival mission, which clearly must start now. Even though still early in the campaign, the Wearsiders find themselves five points behind 17th place Bournemouth, the bluntness remains in attack and the defense is as porous as ever, leaking goals left, right and center. Dick Advocaat has left the club in a precarious situation and this will surely be a test of Sam Allardyce’s managerial prowess in trying to keep them from relegation.

Leicester City’s resilience earns them a point

After going 2-0 down to a team as good as Southampton, one would think that would mean Leicester City would be down and out at St.Mary’s. However, Claudio Ranieri’s men had different ideas. There is certainly a lot of admirable traits about this team, from the speed in which they counter-attack or the solidity of their defence not blessed with supreme indviduals. The most impressive though may well be their resilience and grit. In times of adversity the Foxes have overcome these periods with ease. After going into half time 2-0 down, a brace from the league’s top scorer Jamie Vardy secured a well-deserved point. Nigel who?

Arsenal overcome Watford

Arsenal overcame their frustration to secure all three points against newly promoted Watford. After enduring difficulties for the first 60 minutes, the Gunner class eventually told. Goals from Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey secured a comfortable win which now sees Arsene Wenger’s charges now in second place in the table. As long as injuries permit, this Gunners team are title contenders, with acquired grit to add to their flair and on-song play better than anyone in the league.
