Roma suffered an embarrassing away defeat to BATE Borisov 3-2 in the Champions League to leave their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages in tatters on Tuesday evening.
BATE raced to a 3-0 lead within 30 minutes with a double from Filip Mladenovic which followed an eighth minute strike from Ihar Stasevich.
Second half efforts from Gervinho and Vasilis Torosidis were not enough for Roma as they continued their awful record away from home in the Champions League, having not won outside of Rome since 2010 in the competition.
