Western Sydney Wanderers have continued reshaping their squad, signing 25-year-old Steven Lustica to a two-year deal on Monday.

Lustica was released by Brisbane Roar last month but has now found his next A-League home, having had previous stints with Gold Coast United, Adelaide United and the Roar as well as a brief stay with Croatian club Hadjuk Split.

The central-midfielder said deciding to join the Wanderers as his next step was not a difficult decision.

“It didn’t take a lot of convincing to see what’s happening at the Wanderers. With the set-up there, the club is growing every year and it’s something that I wanted to be a part of,” Lustica said.

“It’s a big honour for me to be part of this club: I’m looking forward to working under Popa and the rest of the staff. It’s really exciting times ahead.

“The Wanderers’ fan base is the best in the league. When I played for Brisbane, the game you most looked forward to was the away match in Western Sydney.

“The atmosphere in the semi-final especially was unbelievable and I’m looking forward to having the best fans in the league behind me.”

Lustica’s signing comes shortly after the Wanderers announced former goalkeeper Jerrard Tyson would return to the club.

Alberto, Andreu, Golgol Mebrahtu, Federico Piovaccari, Romeo Castelen and Matt Sim were all released days after Western Sydney were defeated in the 2015-16 A-League grand final.
