Wellington Phoenix delivered the perfect audience to a crowd in excess of 13,000, thrashing a hapless Adelaide United 4-2.
Wellington Phoenix
Glen Moss – 7: A solid performance by the Phoenix number one. Made a few decent saves and looked competent at set pieces. Could do little about either goal.
Justin Gulley – 7: Just his second start for the Phoenix this season and already looking like he fits the bill at right-back. If he can stay fit he will surely challenge Doyle and Fenton for a starting berth.
Ben Sigmund – 7: Clearance after clearance after clearance.
Andrew Durante – 6.5: Captain’s performance but conceded two goals and got a yellow.
Manny Muscat – 7: Brought his usual steel and sensibility to the right-flank. Some nifty touches and a well controlled performance.
Albert Riera – 7: Arguably the most consistent midfielder in the league, Riera always turns up and does his job. Shielded his back line with aplomb again tonight.
Roly Bonevacia – 9.5: Two goals and a sublime performance. It is criminal how good he is sometimes.
Alex Rodriguez – 6: Terrible miss from right in front and lacks sharpness and match play. Got a yellow and struggled.
Blake Powell – 8: Quality play from the Aussie. Looks at home at this level after playing National Premier League football last season.
Roy Krishna – 9: Dynamo. A goal and an assist and looked classy throughout the match. His best game so far this season.
Jeffrey Sarpong – 8: Quality is starting to appear. His overall game is looking a lot sharper, and tonight was the closest he has come to scoring as he hit the post.
Substitutes
Matthew Ridenton – 8: Impact sub. Great finish in traffic to seal the result.
Kwabenah Appiah-Kubi – N/A: Came on too late to have a real influence.
Troy Danaskos – N/A: Result was already sealed by the time he came on, nothing to do for the defender.
