Manchester United set about putting their Champions League campaign back-on-track thanks to a well fought victory over Wolfsburg last night.

The red devils were made to work hard for the three points when make-shift right-back Antonio Valencia allowed Daniel Caliguri to remain onside to give the Wolves the lead just four minutes in. David De Gea was beaten at his near-post, in what was his only mistake for the 90 minutes of football at Old Trafford.

Caliguri went from hero to villain in the 33rd minute of the game though, as his raised hand caught the ball inside his own 18-yard box. Juan Mata sent Diego Benaglio the wrong way to level the match from the spot, the Spaniard then acted as provider following an out of this word back heel flick over the defence, that saw Chris Smalling coolly sink the eventual winner.

The result is an exact replica of the Wolves last match against United six years ago to the day and sets up what will prove to be an exciting rematch in Germany later this year.
