Liverpool have secured their place in the Europa League final, following a 3-0 victory at Anfield to overturn their 1-0 away leg deficit against Villarreal.
The Reds began the game with an intense pressing game and were duly rewarded when Bruno Soriano put through his own net.
After half-time the home side went ahead in the tie when Daniel Sturridge capitalised on Roberto Firmino’s scuffed shot to neatly slot home from close range just after the hour mark.
Things got even worse for the visitors after Victor Ruiz was given his marching orders for a second yellow offence.
And with only 10 minutes remaining Adam Lallana was able to put the icing on the cake with a clever flick from point-blank range.
Liverpool will face the holders and winners of the competition in the past two years, Sevilla on May 18th in Basel.
