In the lead-up to the second Melbourne Derby of this season, Melbourne City striker Bruno Fornaroli described the rivalry between his club and Melbourne Victory as the “beautiful derby”.
The Uruguayan has played in just two derbies to date, but it seems an appropriate designation for a fixture that rarely fails to entertain on the pitch, while conducted in good spirit in the stands.

Despite the rivalry’s short history, it has so far delivered spectacular goals, bumper crowds, heart-stopping finishes and upset wins, showcasing the best of the A-League.
City were winners in the most recent edition, a thrilling 2-1 encounter at AAMI Park, but Victory hold the overall edge with eight wins to six.
