Sydney FC youngster George Blackwood says he hopes to break his goal-scoring duck on the biggest stage of all, the Sydney Derby this weekend.

Speaking on the Daily Football Show, Blackwood said he cannot wait for tomorrow night’s clash between the fierce rivals.

“Yeah I can’t wait. It’s gonna be a great game and the crowd is going to be really good so I can’t wait to get out there.”

With a sell-out expected at an intimidating Pirtek Stadium tomorrow night, the 18-year-old said his side will be blocking out what is expected to be a volatile crowd and hopes to silence them with his first goal for the club.

“As a player you block the crowd out,” he said.

“Yeah that would be a dream come true [to score in the Derby]. I just got to keep plodding away. I think it’d be panic stations if I wasn’t getting in the right positions, but I am.”

Blackwood also revealed that coach Graham Arnold is a much different personality behind closed doors than to how he is depicted in the media, and credits the Australian legend for his development.

“He definitely does cut a different figure to what you see on the TV”

“We love him.”

However, when asked if Arnold was capable of the old hair-dryer in the dressing room, Blackwood responded with an unequivocal “Yep.”
