David Luiz is set for his first appearance back in the Premier League when Chelsea take on Liverpool early tomorrow morning.
After Reds fans mocked Luiz on Twitter, the gang at oulala.com decided to take a look at how the Brazilian has compared to a Liverpool attacking quartet of Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge in five key areas this season. The stats suggest the defender tops the four players both on the ground and in the air.
Luiz’ performances for PSG in the early season have already justified his high price tag, especially when stacked up against the attackers he will want to stop at Stamford Bridge.
The 29-year-old has been immaculate with the ball at his feet, passing from the back at over 90% accuracy while completing every attempted take-on. Coutinho boasts the highest accuracy of the Liverpool four, while new arrival Sadio Mane has won over two-thirds of his take-ons.
When contesting for the ball in the air and on the ground Luiz registers an overall duel success rate of 55%, with Mane again topping the category for the Reds at 51%.
