AC Milan have further bolstered their Europa League hopes by signing Jose Sosa prior to the opening match of the 2016-17 Serie A season against Torino.

After months of speculation, Sosa, or Principito, has finally joined the Rossoneri following lengthy negotiations with his former club Besiktas.

The 31-year-old has signed a three-year deal reported to be worth somewhere in the region of €7.5 million and underwent his medical on Wednesday.

Yet it is not the first time the Argentine has played in Italy after a brief stint with Napoli back in 2010.

Despite his age, the veteran is rearing to go and will complete coach Vincenzo Montella’s squad, whose aim was to rejuvenate old stars as well as give opportunities to younger players.

The attacking-midfielder was the final piece to the puzzle for the new coach as Sosa has the experience in the centre of the pitch and will be the perfect point of transition from attack to defence.

His arrival at Casa Milan follows that of another three new signings in Gustavo Gomez, Gianluca Lapadula and Leonel Vangioni.

Their arrivals have added a healthy competition for places, a far cry from last season in which the squad struggled to form a threatening starting XI.

Indeed the good news only continues for the Rossoneri this season with Carlos Bacca re-signing, whose intention is to play in the UEFA Champions League with Milan.

It appears the players are all working towards a common goal ahead of their first test against Torino at the San Siro. Ironically, the Granata are headed by former Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
