The already relegated Verona shocked the Rossoneri with a later winner to further tarnish their 2015-16 season overnight.

Luca Siligardi’s goal compelled Milan to another outing without a win, making it now just one from a total of seven games. The Serie B bound side fought back after Jeremy Menez’s opener, which had the visitors in front at the break. However, a Giampaolo Pazzini penalty tied the game before Siligardi was the hero to give Hellas a rare victory at home. The result leaves Milan one point clear in sixth place ahead of Sassuolo with three games to play and the pressure heaping on Christian Brocchi to get this side to the Europa League.

Donnarumma the unsung hero

It is unbelievable to think that this man is only 17-years-old, however, ‘Gigi’ is playing like he is eight years his senior.

An unbelievable 10 saves constantly kept a lacklustre Milan defence from embarrassment, soundly beaten by a strong Verona attack. He was awarded man of the match for his performance between the sticks and has to be one of the focal points for Milan in the future rebuild. He is a talent who looks way beyond his years and at this rate, his position in the Italian side for the Euros is looking very promising.

Considering Mattia Perin went down with an ACL injury, Antonio Conte must be strongly considering Donarumma for that final position.

Hellas have a solid base for swift return

A side who were tipped to stay up after two seasons of over-achievement are now on their way back to the second division.

Hellas Verona, proved that the underdog can succeed and were spearheaded by the brilliance of Luca Toni, who for the past two seasons has been the focal point of an attack based around his prowess. Coupled with the loss of names such as Juan Iturbe and Jorginho over the past few seasons, Hellas have been stripped to the bare bones, but have players who provide a solid base.

Giampaolo Pazzini, Bosko Jankovic and Pawel Wszolek help to give Verona some foundation for next season and thus gives them all the chance to make a quick return to the Serie A in 2017.

Who was Milan’s most disappointing player against Verona?

Honda proves his case in attacking midfield

Due to the injury of Giacomo Bonaventura, Keisuke Honda was given his chance in the trequatista role this past weekend. One in which he excelled.

Milan’s best attacking option, he was a constant threat to the Verona defence and worked hard to get himself into the game. Constantly linking up with Carlos Bacca and Jeremy Menez, he was unlucky to be on the losing side. However, performances like these provide promise for whoever the new manager of the Rossoneri will be beyond Brocchi next season.

Defensive questions for the Rossoneri

Once again, the defensive issues of Milan were under the spotlight. With Alex out, Alessio Romagnoli was forced to partner with his inconsistent counterpart, Cristian Zapata, which once again turned to be a nightmare.

Allowing 28 shots against the 20th side on the table sums up a poor end to the campaign, for a defence which had started to build some solidity this past season. Big questions and refurbishment are needed in the centre and a consistent partner for Romagnoli is the beginning of many other stemming problems coming from a club in a major hole and in need of upheaval.
