AC Milan bagged their third win a row and climbed to sixth place on the Serie A ladder after defeating Lazio 3-1 at the Stadio Olimpico in Roma on Sunday night.
Andrea Bertolacci opened the scoring after a shot from Cerci rebounded into his path, tapping it in to give the Rossoneri a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute.
Philippe Mexes was substituted into the game early on in the second half and headed in the second goal of the match off a free kick. Carlos Bacca put the match beyond doubt with a third goal for Milan in the 79th minute. Ricardo Kishna scored a consolation goal for Lazio in the 84th minute.
After a rocky start to the Serie A season, AC Milan are a team finally coming together, and while their wins aren’t spectacular, they are wins and vital points. They now take on Atalanta before the International Break.
Lazio
Federico Marchetti – 3: Had quite the shocker, unable to deal with the shot from Cerci, resulting in Bertolacci netting the first of three to come. Misjudged a free kick from Bonaventura, resulting in the second goal.
Dusan Basta – 4: Struggling as a team, Basta was unable to deal with the AC Milan forwards, as well as Bonaventura in the midfield. Unable to provide any support up front.
Santiago Gentiletti – 4: Unable to contain the offense, was found out a number of times and out of position for the Bacca goal
Mauricio – 5: Was best player for Lazio on field, made some interceptions in the midfield and tried to get the team going
Senad Lulic – 3: Struggled throughout the match, Cerci was all over the Bosnian for most of the match, couldn’t provide any support.
Lucas Biglia – 5: A poor showing from the Lazio captain, made some crosses but was never really in the game
Ogenyi Onazi – 3: Onazi only lasted to the first half, losing the ball on several occasions.
Felipe Anderson – 4: Anderson was brilliantly contained by the defense of the Rossoneri, unable to get the upper hand at all during the match
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – 3: A quiet and poor asset to the team throughout the match, didn’t inject himself into the game at all, replaced with 20 minutes to go
Antonio Candreva – 3: Made relatively no impact to the game
Miroslav Klose – 4: The aging forward was easily contained by the defense, showing himself as slow and unable to produce anything of importance
Substitutes
Danilo Cataldi – 3: The replacement for Onazi but failed to produce anything significant to the game
Ricardo Kishna – 5: A bright spark for the Biancocelesti, scoring the consolation goal for them
