The final day of the PS4 NPL Player Pathways Camp has arrived, with one lucky youngster of 24 set to earn a trial with the Sydney FC youth-team following today’s proceedings.

Yesterday morning started off with a physical testing session, run by the National High Performance Team, which saw the players put through their paces in a professional environment. The physical testing consisted of a Vertical Leap test and a Yo-Yo Intermittent test , which tests a players anaerobic capacity.

Once this was complete, the players were treated to a media training session, which saw some of Australia’s leading football journalists  inform all the players on the Australian Football media landscape, and what they expect from players (and vice versa). At the end of this session, the National High Performance Team ran a seminar on hydration and nutrition, something all of the players found to be extremely valuable.

Once all this was complete, the 24 players hit the park for an extremely intense 90-minute training session. It was the first session where footballs were integrated and there were clearly a few signs of nerves from each player early on. The longer the session went, the more comfortable each player became and the talent of each individual was on show.

  • Sydney FC Youth League Head Coach – Rob Stanton
  • Former Socceroo, Chief Analyst for The World Game on SBS and Chairman of the PFA – Craig Foster
