The Argentine star stepped out for his new club having visibly enjoyed his summer.

Gonzalo Higuain, all €90m of him, arrived in East London, ready to play a part in Juve’s pre-season friendly against West Ham. The 50,000-strong crowd were forced to wait until the second half to see the record-breaking Argentinian recruit, and as the striker trotted onto the turf, he appeared to be carrying some holiday weight. Luckily, with one of the stands in the Olympic Stadium some distance from the pitch, not every eye in the ground will have caught a clear glimpse of Higuain’s extra timber.

Meanwhile, Andy Carroll was dominating the aerial space inside the Juventus box, scoring twice in soaring fashion. West Ham had gone two goals down, with Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic netting a goal each, but were dragged back into proceedings by Carroll’s compelling, muscular airborne input. Simone Zaza, of missed-penalty fame, netted a cool winner with five minutes remaining, as the match rolled lazily to its conclusion.

The Twitterverse was watching Higuain’s debut, from every intimately televised angle, and they too had their say.
