Antoine Griezmann continued his fine run of form, scoring both goals to give Atlético Madrid the win against Getafe at the Vicente Calderón overnight.

La Liga returned for midweek action for the first time this season in Madrid and saw Atléti’s Griezmann’s lethal start to 2015-16 roll-on, scoring a goal in both halves against Getafe to give the home side their fourth league win of the season.

Diego Simeone decided to rotate a team that recently beat Eibar on the weekend, with Fernando Torres, Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, Óliver Torres, Saúl Ñíguez and debutant Stefan Savić all coming into the starting XI, showing the strength of depth in this side.

Fran Escribá’s men are currently only on three points and drifting only above the bottom-three, having only beaten Málaga so far for this campaign. However, the match got off to a nightmare start, down 1-0 in the fourth minute, with the French striker firing from close range to give the home side an early lead.

Simeone’s side would consider a 1-0 score line lucky as only moments before halftime Óliver gifted Getafe a brilliant chance to equalise with Stefan Šćepović running on goal, only for the dependable Jan Oblak to make the save. The visitors pressured at the break, however, Simeone’s decision to bring on Jackson Martínez, Tiago and Ángel Correa proved decisive.
