AC Milan have fallen in the final minutes of their clash against Udinese at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday night.

Vincenzo Montella’s men were looking to return to winning ways after a 4-2 loss to Napoli in their last fixture prior to the international break.

While the Rossoneri were dominant in terms of possession, they were unable to truly challenge opposition goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis.

The visitors maintained consistent defensive play despite mounting pressure from Milan, ultimately struggling to provide service to forward Carlos Bacca.

Jose Sosa had the best scoring chance for his side with a strike from the edge of the area hitting the crossbar.

In the closing minutes of the clash a Badu cross found Stipe Perica, who steered a shot into the bottom left-hand corner of the net with help from Ignazio Abate’s deflection.

The result is the Rossoneri’s second loss of the season and an injury to Luca Antonelli further adds to their woes.

AC Milan

Gianluigi Donnarumma – 7: The rising star of Italian football could do little to prevent the match winner due to the heavy deflection, but was not really challenged on any other occasion.

Ignazio Abate – 5: An average match with some below par tackles. His performance culminated in the deflection which resulted in the opposition’s goal.

Alessio Romagnoli – 7: Had a tough job marking Duvan Zapata but performed extremely well and restricted the space available for him.

Luca Antonelli – 5: Made a few necessary tackles but sustained an injury early in the second half.

Gabriel Paletta – 6.5: He returned from his suspension with a consistent display including several key defensive interventions.

Riccardo Montolivo – 2: Countless errors creep into his game continually and a lack of pace lets him down.

Jose Sosa – 6: Had the best opportunity for his side when his shot hit the crossbar, in what was his first start for Milan.

Giacomo Bonventura – 4: A disappointing match for the Italian, with his passing and decision making both poor.

Andrea Poli – 6.5: Passing was excellent and was clinical in the centre of the pitch, as well as being dangerous when in posession.

Carlos Bacca – 4.5: Not efficient enough in front of goal, but did not have adequate service either.

Suso – 6: Played excellently in the wider areas due to his quick ball movements.

Substitutes

Mattia De Sciglio – 4: Replaced Antonelli but was not at his best.

Keisuke Honda – 4: Came on for Sosa, though did not have much influence on the overall match.

Gianluca Lapadula – N/A:

Udinese

Orestis Karnezis – 7: The goalkeeper was only really tested on one occasion, with another Milan strike making for an easy save.

Danilo – 7: In a match where there was a lot of pressure on the Udinese backline, Danilo carried out his role perfectly.

Felipe – 7: Another defender whom prevented opposition attacks from being converted into scoring opportunities.

Pablo Armero – 5: His speed and strength was a definite positive for his squad.

Silvan Widmer – 6: The right-back played cautiously, yet consistently, with there being no room for error in the squad’s play.

Rodrigo De Paul – 6.5: An exciting player to watch, possessing the ability to come forward with pace and agility.

Emil Hallfredsson – 5.5: An average game for the Iceland international, who was not accurate with his passing.

Sven Kums – 4.5: Did pressure the opposition on occasion, but frequently relinquished posession.

Emmanuel Agyeman Badu – 7: Was excellent in terms of creating forward momentum and crosses into the area.

Duvan Zapata – 5: Attempted to assist Cyril Thereau while also creating opportunities of his own, but was not effective in doing so.

Cyril Thereau – 5: Like the opposition striker Bacca, the forward was not clinical in front of goal.

Substitutes

Gabriele Angella – N/A: No real influence on the overall play of his squad.

Ryder Matos – 4: Was inconsistent and errors creeped into his play.

Stipe Perica – 6.5: The last substitute and scored the winning goal – could not ask for a better match.
