Outside90’s Benn Mackie casts an eye over the five best individual performances coming from Matchday 4 of the English Premier League.

Andre Ayew (Swansea vs Manchester United)

Andrew Ayew has been a revelation since his free transfer from Marseille. Going into the match with Manchester United, he had scored two fine goals to help kick start the Swan’s season. On Sunday night the forward from Ghana made Louis van Gaal’s patched up defence look ragged, scoring again and assisting Bafetimbi Gomis as Swansea dominated the Red Devils on their way to another fine victory. Ayew now has three goals and one assist from four games. With form like this, Swansea are well on their way to a place in Europe.

Manuel Lanzini (West Ham vs Liverpool)

Manuel Lanzini made Liverpool’s previously unbeaten defence look amateur on the weekend. The Argentine made his debut for the Hammers as they arrived at Anfield having not won at the ground in 52 years. Lanzini quickly showed why West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has faith in him, scoring in just three minutes. After tormenting the Reds’ defence he robbed Dejan Lovren of possession and set up Mark Noble to give the Hammers a 2-0 lead before the half-hour mark. After historically beating both Arsenal and Liverpool away, West Ham will be looking to cause more problems for their rivals.

Dusan Tadic (Southampton vs Norwich)

Last season proved Dusan Tadic is a classy left-footed attacking-midfielder and though it has taken a few weeks for the Serbian to show form this campaign, his display on the weekend bewildered a cagey Norwich defence. Tadic was at the heart of the Saints’ play, linkingwell with Graziano Pelle and scoring two goals in three minutes to put the game to bed. If Tadic can reach the form he showed last season on a more consistent basis, you will likely see him back in this list of top performers again.

Raheem Sterling (Manchester City vs Watford)

Raheem Sterling has felt the pressure of being the most expensive Englishmen in the opening weeks of the Premier League season but on the weekend, the 20-year-old showed glimpses of class and looked the most likely to break down a stubborn Watford outfit. Sterling scored his first goal in a sky blue shirt, producing a fine finish from inside the six-yard box after using his speed to leave his opposition defenders for dead. Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping it is the start of something special.

Tim Howard (Everton vs Tottenham)

Tim Howard showed why he is rated as a top professional. Last week he cost his Everton side two goals with bad some positioning that gifted Manchester City a win, yet this week was a different story as he provided a resolute last line of defence against a goalless Harry Kane. Howard made a few fine saves to keep a clean sheet and will have gained much needed confidence to take into the International break. Everton Manager Roberto Martinez will be happy with the American and how he marshaled the back line ahead of him.

Key Stats
1 Clean Sheet
6 Saves
7 Catches
