Outside90 Senior Editor Hugh Schuitemaker casts an eye over the major moves that were completed in the closing stages of the 2015-16 summer transfer window.

Premier League

Fabio Borini (Liverpool > Sunderland) £8 Million

The Italian striker will return to the Stadium of Light after falling down the pecking order under Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool. Borini scored seven times in his previous stint with the Black Cats, and is clearly delighted at the prospect of re-joining Dick Advocaat’s squad. It is also a good deal for Sunderland, landing his signature for £6 million less than the amount they offered at the beginning of last season.

Anders Lindegaard (Manchester United > West Brom) Free Transfer The Danish international custodian has decided against continuing to pursue a first team spot at Old Trafford, signing with the Baggies on a two-year deal. Lindegaard made just 19 appearances for United since arriving from Norwegian outfit Aalesund in 2010 and will hope to reignite his Premier League career with West Brom. He has the potential to slot into Tony Pulis’ setup and standing at 193cm tall, he is sure to cause nightmares for opposition strikers.

Glenn Murray (Crystal Palace > Bournemouth) £5 Million

After playing over 110 games for Crystal Palace, Glenn Murray found himself being pushed to the sidelines following Alan Pardew’s move to bring Connor Wickham to Selhurst Park. A proven goal scorer, the physical Englishman could shine with the deliveries of Cherries teammate Matt Ritchie coming his way.

Victor Ibarbo (AS Roma > Watford FC) Loan

In another sign of the quality present in every Premier League side across the table this season, Watford look to have landed the Colombian hitman. Moving to Roma from Cagliari back in February, he has not had much of a chance to turns heads for the Giallorossi, but will surely become a regular feature of Quique Flores’ setup. The two sides are reported to have agreed to the deal, which will become official pending a medical examination.

Joleon Lescott (West Brom > Aston Villa) £1-2 million

A true football journeyman, Lescott can add some leadership and stability to a Villa backline that has been leaking goals so far this season. With over 100 games under his belt for both Manchester City and Everton, few can match his work rate on the field and the credentials on his CV. The veteran defender will undergo a medical tomorrow before the deal becomes official.

Bundesliga

Robbie Kruse (Bayern Leverkusen > VfB Stuttgart) loan

Having recovered from an Achilles injury sustained during the Asian Cup final, the Socceroos wonderboy has been snapped-up on a season-long loan by Stuttgart, with the option to make it a permanent move. The 26-year-old’s chances at regular first team action at the Mercedes-Benz arena are much greater, and he will get to ply his trade alongside national teammate Mitch Langerak.

“I’m really looking forward to this new challenge with Stuttgart and I would like to play my part in ensuring we enjoy better sporting fortunes in the coming weeks and months,” Kruse said.

Dante (Bayern Munich > VfL Wolfsburg) Undisclosed

The Brazilian defender asked to leave the Bundesliga champions after losing his spot in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI, signing a three-year deal with rivals Wolfsburg. Dante can count three domestic titles and a Champions League trophy among his accolades, and he will no doubt bring some valuable insight on Bayern’s play with him to the Wolves.

Julian Draxler (Schalke > VfL Wolfsburg) £25.5 million

Not wasting any time in using the money gained for Kevin de Bruyne, Wolfsburg’s second deadline day deal is believed to be a club record fee, as Julian Draxler joins from Schalke for an estimated €35 million. The 21-year-old playmaker showed his abilities during the 2014-15 season , scoring twice in eight outings and has had previous offers for his signature come from clubs such as Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

Adnan Januzaj (Manchester United > Borussia Dortmund) Loan Adnan Januzaj’s move to Borussia Dortmund is somewhat surprising, it beginning to look as though the 20-year-old was just beginning to cement a spot in Louis van Gaal’s first team. With Dortmund currently on a roll in the Bundesliga it will be a refreshing environment that the Belgian moves into, however, with Thomas Tuchel’s playmaking roles already well accounted for, he may still find regular football difficult to come by. Having made just 37 appearances for Manchester United over his five year stay, the Mexican has a lot to offer and will want to hit the ground running at the BayArena.

Serie A Hernanes (Inter Milan > Juventus) £8 Million The versatile Brazilian midfielder will move to Inter’s Scudetto rivals Juventus on a three-year deal, one where it is hard to tell if there are benefits for either side. Hernanes has gone through some rough patches since signing for the Nerrazzuri from Lazio for nearly €20million, scoring just seven goals in nearly 40 showings. Perhaps Juve manager Masimilliano Allegri can change Hernanes’ fortunes? Either way Inter will feel like they were bailed out to a degree.

Adem Ljajic (AS Roma > Inter Milan) Loan

In one of the last minute deals of the transfer window, the Nerrazzuri signed playmaker Adem Ljalic from Roma on a season-long move worth €2 million, with the possibility to purchase the player permanently in 2016 for €9 million. Despite 14 goals from 60 games, Ljajic was unable to truly find a spot in Rudi Garcia’s side, but will be a welcome addition for Inter in-behind Stevan Jovetic and Mauro Icardi.

Felipe Melo (Galatasaray > Inter Milan) £8 million

Inter were also able to announce the late signing of fellow midfielder Felipe Melo from Turkish outfit Galatasaray. The six-foot-tall former-Juventus midfielder will add some stability and physicality to Roberto Mancini’s team, as well as providing a target in the box from set pieces.
