Melbourne Victory have confirmed former favourite Marco Rojas will return to the club, signing a two-year-deal.

The winger returns to Victory after an ill-fated three-year stay in Germany with VfB Stuttgart, where he was never able to make a first team appearance, and just four for the club’s reserves.

He also spent time on loan with SpVgg Greuther Furth as well as Swiss side FC Thun.

Die Roten announced they had terminated the 24-year-old’s contract via mutual consent on Monday.

Victory boss Kevin Muscat labeled the signing as “significant”.

“This is another significant signing for our club as we continue to prepare for the new A-League season,” Muscat said.

“We all know the quality Marco possesses.

“We’re excited to see him return to Victory and I’m sure our fans will welcome him back.”

Rojas netted 15 times in 50 appearances in his first stay with Victory and was named in the club’s first ever team of the decade.

He joins Alan Baro, James Troisi and Mitch Austin as preseason signings.
