Interim Newcastle Jets CEO David Eland has offered some insight into the long-running Jets ownership saga, revealing there is concrete interest from potential investors and that an information memorandum has been completed and distributed.

Hunter Sports Group was stripped of the Jets licence by FFA in May 2015 but has not since been bought by another party.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Football Show, Eland claims there are “five to 10” parties interested in taking over the Jets’ ownership, including Chinese lighting magnate Martin Lee, a name that was linked to the club by the Herald

“The FFA have engaged UBS (Asset Management) to put together an information memorandum. UBS helped the FFA throughout the sale of the Western Sydney Wanderers,” Eland said.

“The information memorandum has been completed and my understanding is that that information memorandum has been distributed to quite a number of interested parties, somewhere between five and 10 interested parties.

“Those interested parties need to sign confidentiality agreements.

“So the good news for the club is there is genuine interest in the club, which is great, and yes, I’m well aware of the reports around Mr Lee.

“It’s an exciting time for the club, and I know a number of parties see the enormous potential in the Newcastle Jets in this region and the Hyundai A-League.”
