Player agent Mino Raiola has revealed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic threatened to ‘break his legs’ if he played a part in Paul Pogba’s transfer to anywhere else other than Manchester United.

The Swedish striker enjoys a friendly, honest and long-standing relationship with Raiola, who said recently that he convinced the Manchester United star to procure his services after bringing him down to earth with some carefully choosed words.

While the comment was firmly made tongue-in-cheek, it is the latest in a long line of memorable quotes from the former Paris Saint Germain icon.

“Zlatan told me, ‘Do not transfer Pogba elsewhere or I will break your legs’,” Raiola told Volkskrant.nl.

The Frenchman scored his first goal for the club in Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Leicester City, and Raiola commented on Pogba’s current form at United.

“Pogba still has to find his place in the team,” Raiola said.

“My preferred position for him is left attacking midfielder.”

“With his power, stamina and technique…. Pogba would be unplayable in that role. But (Jose) Mourinho takes the decisions.”

Manchester United’s next match is against Zorya Luhansk in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening, before facing Stoke City at Old Trafford on Sunday.
