Former Manchester United star Dimitar Berbatov could be on his way to the A-League next season with Melbourne Victory reportedly keen on his signature.

The 35-year-old striker is currently plying his trade with Greek club PAOK and the Victory are believed to be interested in signing the erratic Bulgarian on a two-year deal.

Greek media publication SPORT24 is reporting that Berbatov has attracted interest from both Australia and South Korea for a summer transfer away from Greece, with Pohang Steelers the other interested party.

Berbatov is best known for his casual but brilliant style on the pitch, captaining his country between 2006-2010 and is the all-time leading scorer. He also made 108 appearances for Manchester United between 2008–2012, scoring 48 goals and winning the Premier League twice.

The Victory could be left with just one foreigner on their books next season, with Mathieu Delpierre retiring, Kosta Barbarouses likely to return home to Wellington Phoenix and both Gui Finkler and Fahid Ben Khalfallah every chance to move on after their Asian Champions League squad omissions.

Berbatov would be a handy option up front alongside fellow Balkan native Besart Berisha…
