Mark Schwarzer will not sign for Perth Glory, according to CEO Peter Filopoulos who spoke exclusively to the Daily Football Show.

The former Socceroos custodian, 43, has been linked with a move to the Western Australian outfit, however a deal has not been struck and looks highly unlikely.

“We did express an interest to see what Mark wants to do and we don’t believe he’s going to be coming back to Australia but if he does he will end up at Sydney FC,” Filopoulos said.

“We did ask the question and have a good conversation but we don’t think that’s something that’s going to eventuate.”

Despite missing out on the signature of the veteran, Perth Glory’s official announcement of Kenny Lowe’s two-year contract extension is another huge step in the right direction for the rejuvenated club.

“Kenny can take pride in the fact that during the upcoming season, 13 players in the senior squad are home grown and most of whom he has coached or mentored along the way,” Filopoulos said.

“With a clear strategy in place for the club, it was critical we extended Kenny’s contract to provide the environment and opportunity to drive our strategic objectives between now and 2020.”
