Barcelona continued their streak by smashing Real Sociedad 4-0 at the Nou Camp to stay four points clear at the top of La Liga.

The attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar all got on the scoresheet, with the latter grabbing a brace.

Barca dominating on all fronts

Having sealed qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League in midweek, Barca turned their attention to continuing their domestic domination. They have now won six consecutive league games since the 2-1 defeat at Sevilla back in early October, scoring 21 goals in the process.

Given the totally dominant performances of late it seems impossible to imagine that anyone can stop Barca racing to yet another La Liga title, especially with their terrifying attacking trio continuing all guns blazing.

Looking at their schedule it is hard to see the winning streak coming to an end, with a run of winable fixtures against Deportivo, Real Betis, Espanyol and Granada before hosting Athletic Bilbao in mid-January and a big test as Atletico Madrid visit Nou Camp on 31 January.

Neymar marches on

Neymar continued his devastating run of form with another two goals against Sociedad, which extended his lead at the top of the La Liga scoring charts.

The Brazilian now has 16 goals in 17 appearances for Barcelona this season – and 14 goals in 12 La Liga matches. Neymar has also scored in his last five league appearances, scoring 11 in his last seven in league games.

Messi back with a bang

Following his half-hour cameo return in Barca’s 4-0 domination of Real Madrid last week, Messi has now scored three goals in two starts against Roma and Sociedad.

The two month injury lay-off has seemingly not affected the Argentinian, who extended his all-time La Liga goalscoring record with an injury time goal on his 600th career appearance. He has now scored a mighty 261 league goals for Barca, at an astounding ratio of 0.9 goals per game.

Suarez stunner

For the second game in a row, Luis Suarez scored a superb volley to extend his scoring streak. He notched Barca’s second goal against Sociedad with an impressive acrobatic effort at the back post which flew into the far corner, in typically clinical Suarez style.

The Uruguayan has now scored in seven consecutive Barca matches, scoring 11 goals in those matches, and has scored 15 times in his last 12 appearances. He is also Barca’s top scorer with 18 goals in 20 matches in all competitions, only surpassed by Neymar in terms of league strikes.
