Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that as many as nine teams could win the Premier League title this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, the German explained that he is not underestimating the competitiveness of England’s domestic competition.

The 49-year-old believes Leicester City were deserved champions. However, with the widespread improvement on display so far this season, Klopp expects up to 9 teams to compete for the title.

“This season the biggest difference is maybe nobody was really happy last season apart from Leicester with their positions,” he said.

“Everyone is striking back, lot of change in terms of managers and players. A lot of quality.

“For sure it’s the most competitive league in world football. People always ask which is the best league? I have no idea but there are seven, eight, nine teams who think they should be top of the league.

“We all have to deal with it. We have to deal with that pressure.”

Despite qualifying for two cup finals during his first season in charge, Klopp could only inspire Liverpool to an eighth place finish in the league. Without European football this year, he has set his sights much higher.

Liverpool are currently one of the form sides of the Premier League, and they will be looking to continue this when they meet Swansea City at Anfield on Saturday with the consolidation of a top four spot the aim.
