Diego Costa, a man at the centre of both brilliance and controversy in equal measure, was a key topic of Jurgen Klopp’s pre-match press conference as Liverpool prepare for the trip to Chelsea.

The Liverpool manager made it clear that he will demand his defenders to take a physical approach with the fiery Spaniard.

“Being aggressive is important against Costa,” Klopp said.

“If you are in a friendly game mood then you have no chance.

“He is a real warrior on the pitch. He uses his body all the time – that is his quality. World-class.

“He was nearly unstoppable against Swansea. He is strong, no doubt.

Centre-back Dejan Lovren will likely return to the Liverpool lineup and partner Joel Matip with both players given the responsibility of negating the Chelsea striker’s influence, who has scored four goals in four games to start the season.

Liverpool sit in sixth with seven points from their opening four games, while Chelsea have collected 10 points and lie in second place on the Premier League table.
