Manchester City are the team to beat in this season’s Premier League based on the five games completed so far, meaning Pep Guardiola has turned heads during his short tenure at the club.

No one appears more impressed than 21-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, who spoke to ESPN FC earlier today about the Spaniard’s influence.

“I’ve seen their games against Manchester United and Borussia Monchengladbach, the way they’re topping the table is extremely commanding,” said Kimmich.

“It’s fascinating to see the way he [Guardiola] has been able to leave his mark on the team in such a short space of time. They play completely different football than last season. If I’m honest I’m not surprised, however.”

Kimmich broke into Bayern’s first team through the guidance of the new City manager and believes that he will have a major influence on the game in England. He also believes that despite reports, Guardiola did not fail at Bayern.

“In Germany, some people said he failed at Bayern because he didn’t win the Champions League. But I think Bayern were rarely as dominant as under him, when they won three championships in a row,” he said.

“He’s revolutionised football here. And I believe his influence in England will be devastating, too.”
