Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says the upcoming international break has come at the wrong time for his team, after they were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Stoke City on the weekend.

When a host of his players return from international duty, Mourinho will only have a short time to prepare for his side’s clash with Liverpool on October 17.

The game against Liverpool marks the beginning of a tough run of matches for the Red Devils who will come up against Chelsea, Fenerbahce (Europa League) and Manchester City (EFL Cup) all in the space of two weeks.

”It’s frustrating because the result is not good, it’s frustrating because we don’t have a game in three or four days to play again, it’s frustrating because we don’t have the players to work with, but that’s football and I think everybody is frustrated but we have to be happy with the quality of our performance,” Mourinho told reporters following the match.

“I think the fans are disappointed with the result but the reaction also shows that it was an afternoon where they know we did everything.”
