Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher let fly on world-record transfer Paul Pogba after a performance fitting of the ‘schoolyard’ against Manchester City.

In his post-match analysis of the weekend’s derby, Carragher felt that Jose Mourinho should have taken Pogba off at half-time due to his below-par effort – comparing his tactical discipline to that of an amatuer.

“I think, for a central-midfield player, in a game of that magnitude, it was one of the most ill-disciplined performances you’ll see in the first 45 minutes,” Carragher said.

“The only way to describe it is the best player in the schoolyard. He runs where we wants, does want he wants.

Carragher went on to critique Pogba’s positioning throughout the game, as large amount of space was left in the centre of midfield.

“This must have happened 10 to 15 times during the game,” he added.

“I never thought I’d say this, but I felt so sorry for Marouane Fellaini.”

An entertaining contest for the neutral saw Manchester United defeated by rivals  City in what was a tactical showpiece between Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

“I don’t think Pep Guardiola got it massively right, rather that Jose Mourinho got it tactically wrong,” Carragher said.

United travel to Watford this weekend as they look to secure a rebound victory after the 2-1 defeat against the Sky Blues.
