The Wanderers made it back-to-back A-League victories, overcoming the Newcastle Jets 2-1 earlier this evening thanks to a late Mitch Nichols goal.
Controversy was rampant during the match, after Enver Alivodic opened the scoring from what many, including the linesman, would judge to be an offside position, but the follow-up on Lee-Ki Ji’s free-kick stood. With a little under 10 minutes left to play, Brendon Santalab would fall to the ground inside the box under the slightest of contact, yet was awarded a penalty which was put home by Andreu.
Jets fans expressed their disappointment after their team gave away the lead, while the Red and Black army delight as Tony Popovic finally looks to be building some momentum.
Here is how Twitter reacted following the result:
Hilarious penalty decision, at least the officials are shit for both teams. #NEWvWSW

Santalab should have just thrown himself down on the ground instead of trying to kick the ball there #NEWvWSW
