Wellington Phoenix have thumped Adelaide United 4-2 in front of an impressive crowd at Westpac Stadium on Friday evening.
Strikes from Roy Krishna, Matt Ridenton and Roly Bonevacia’s brilliant double confined Craig Goodwin’s early opener to the remnants of history as the Phoenix secured an emphatic victory over Adelaide.
Wellington quickly rallied from behind and equalised only seconds after the United winger’s opener, leaving the struggling Reds in their wake.
Pablo Sanchez pulled back a consolation in the dying embers of the match, but it was far too little, too late.
The match was a superb advertisement for the game in New Zealand and a welcome boost to the #savethenix campaign.
