A-League leaders Brisbane Roar were held to a goalless draw by Wellington Phoenix, following a clash marred by a controversial first half decision.
Neither team scored in the first half, however, the game’s biggest talking point occurred on 32 minutes when Andrew Durante appeared to blatantly handle the ball in the box.
The referee pointed to the spot, only to confer with the assistant referee and rescind his original decision, much to the consternation of Brisbane Roar’s players and coach John Aloisi.
In the second period the home side looked the more likely to score a winning goal, with Kwabena Appiah coming agonisingly close but Jade North’s last ditch interception saved his side a point.
Here is some of the best reactions from Twitter:
Entertaining game. How it ended nil-all is beyond me. To of ladder in keen right. Unlucky on balance. Continue onwards. #WELvBRI

Battled well for a point. Can’t knock the effort. Fox was superb and Appiah made a big impact off the bench #WELvBRI #COYN #SaveTheNix

Brisbane missed Maclaren and Borrello big time. Henrique not a starter and Solorzano is a state 3 player #welvbri

#WELvBRI Awful game! 0-0 not much intensity between 2 teams missing their finishers and that was obvious on the field today
