Perth Glory has lost the chance to host an elimination final going down 4-0 to Sydney FC in the last match of the regular season.

David Carney opened the scoring in the 31st minute. Filip Holosko found his way into the box and a deflection off a Glory defender fell conveniently for Carney who was able to score his second goal for the Sky Blues this season.

Holosko then secured a goal of his own in the 38th minute. Sydney’s marquee man went on a brilliant run, evaded two Perth defenders, cut inside and slotted home his 10th goal for the season.

Sydney continued to outplay the Glory in the second half but went a man down after Holosko collected his second yellow card for the game.

The numerical advantage did little for the Glory, with Sydney going on to score another two goals. Ali Abbas was released down the left by Milos Ninkovic, with the left back nutmegging his defender and then striking it past Ante Covic.

Ninkovic added the fourth and final goal in injury time, waiting unmarked in the box to tap in off an Andrew Hoole cross.

Perth will need to regroup quickly as they face Melbourne City next weekend.

Here’s how Twitter reacted.
