In a pulsating Boxing Day encounter Liverpool triumphed over high-flying Leicester City 1-0 at Anfield.
The Reds were the dominant team throughout, but lacked the creativity needed in the final third to create clear-cut goalscoring chances.
After an absorbing first half, the home side came out in the second and continued to pressure their under siege opponents and on 63 minutes they made the breakthrough.
Roberto Firmino jinked his way past two Leicester defenders and squared the ball for onrushing substitute Christian Benteke to fire an expertly taken shot low and past the despairing grasp of Kasper Schmeichel.
There were some nervy moments for the home side in the final 10 minutes, however, a breakaway in the final moments of the game should have ensured a memorable finish when Benteke had the goal at his mercy, only for Wes Morgan to block a goal-bound shot.
Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter:
Going forward Reds need to be much sharper up top. #LFC play well on the counter but not as much of a threat otherwise.

One thing Klopp has to work on is our crossing. From dead ball or in play. It’s fucking atrocious. #LFC

Lovren – Sakho + Hendo – Can, looked great today… New partnerships so they will obviously have some shaky moments but looks dynamic #LFC

Benteke may have scored today, but that miss at the end is something you wouldn’t even expect from the donkeyist of donkey defenders #LFC

Odd performance from Firmino. Plenty of things to frustrate the fans but most big chances came through him. #LFC

Lallana was excellent today. Can and Hendo much more solid and organised in the middle of the park #LFC

Lovren was my MOTM today, thought he was excellent, closely followed by Henderson. Benteke, less said the better #LFC
