Gary Cahill: “Anywhere in the stadium you can see that’s a clear foul”

A furious Gary Cahill was bemused that three referees missed what he describes as a “clear foul” by Leroy Fer in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Swansea last night.

Minutes after the Swans found an equaliser hrough Gylfi Sigurdsson’s penalty, Cahill was stripped of the ball by the Dutch midfielder who was left with an easy finish past Thibaut Courtois.

After the match, however, the emotionally charged Blues defender was quick to claim that the goal should not have stood.

“Clear foul…clear, clear foul,” said Cahill after the game.

“You could be sat on the moon, on top of the stands, anywhere in the stadium you can see that’s a clear foul.

“I took the touch away from him, it’s not like he’s come from the side of me, he’s come from behind me.

“I felt the foul clear as day on the pitch and seeing it back has just made me even more angry.”

Cahill admitted that he had even gone to discuss the matter with referee Andre Marriner after the contest.

“He’s refereed me personally a lot of times and I’ve got a lot of respect for him, but there’s no two ways,” said Cahill.

“No doubt he will go back and once he sees it, he’ll know he’s made a mistake 100%.

Chelsea remains in second place on the Premier League ladder after the result.
