Former Liverpool full-back Jose Enrique has found himself a new club, moving to Spanish second-division side Real Zaragoza on a two-year deal.

Enrique was released by the Reds at the end of last season following a five-year spell at the club, having joined from Newcastle United back in 2011 in a deal worth £7 million.

The 30-year-old was virtually frozen out of first team plans during the last three years of his stay at Anfield, making a combined total of 21 appearances across all competitions.

Spaniard Enrique enjoyed a strong start to his Liverpool career initially, having been signed by Kenny Dalglish before holding down the starting left-back position in Brendan Rogers’ first season in charge of the club.

It all went downhill from there for Enrique who the following season would slip down the pecking order after Jon Flanagan’s emergence and the arrival of Aly Cissokho on a season-long loan.

Alberto Moreno’s arrival at the club at the beginning of the 2014-15 season meant El Toro saw his first team opportunities diminish even further.

Before leaving the club at the end of the last season, Enrique would go on to make 99 appearances and score two goals for Liverpool.
