Socceroo Matthew Leckie has confirmed he was subject of interest from a number of clubs around Europe in the recent transfer window but ultimately decided to stay put with German club FC Ingolstadt.

In a report from the Herald Sun, it was revealed that Massimo Luongo’s Queens Park Rangers were amongst a host of clubs who reportedly made a move for the 25-year-old, but Ingolstadt had no plans to allow the winger to leave.

“Clubs were interested and approached my club but I don’t think they were too interested in letting me go, so it would’ve had to have been a ridiculous offer,” Leckie told the Herald Sun.

“My club spoke to other clubs and they had to come to an agreement.

“I always said moving on and taking another challenge would be good but I was happy to stick around and that’s the case now.

Leckie has produced a number of strong performances already this season, most notably against Bayern Munich and is confident he and his teammates can get their season back on track following the international break.

“I’ve felt very good, I’ve been dangerous and we’ve played well. (Overall) it’s been a tough start,” he added.

Ingolstadt currently find themselves languishing in 17th place, having claimed only a single point from their opening six Bundesliga games.
