Leicester City again proved their reputation after coming back from a two goal deficit to escape with a point from St. Mary’s Stadium last night.
Southampton’s central-defensive pairing of José Fonte and Virgil van Dijk saw their side go into the break with a huge advantage after scoring a goal each. However, it was not long before Leicester’s danger man Jamie Vardy made his mark on the game, netting midway through the second-half before equalising in the dying stages.
The Saints’ threat from set pieces was made clear early on, with Danny Drinkwater clearing a goal-bound effort from van Dijk off the line before captain Fonte flicked on a Dusan Tadić corner to open the scoring. Another set piece and a measure of good luck with the ball rebounding to the Dutchman twice, saw the new fan favourite recording the second.
