An explosive report in the Telegraph has emerged on Monday, showing England boss Sam Allardyce offering advice on how to sidestep the Football Association (FA)’s rules on transfers and player ownership.

The report details how Allardyce used his position to negotiate a deal worth approximately £400,000 with a group framed as representing an eastern entity, looking to profit from the transfer market. The “businessmen” he was dealing with were Telegraph reporters.

Allardyce travelled to Singapore and Hong Kong in order to partake in the talks, where he advised the group on escaping an FA rule which stipulates third parties cannot own a player. Such an act has been banned by the FA since 2008 and by FIFA since 2015.

Quotes captured by the Telegraph show Allardyce labelling the rules as “ridiculous” and that it was not a problem to bypass them.

The report is part of a series by the Telegraph which it says will uncover corruption and the true influence of the mega-bucks in the English game.
