Sam Allardyce decided to pair Jordan Henderson with Eric Dier last Sunday against Slovakia, as Danny Drinkwater looked on from the bench.

‘Big Sam’ has a keen passion for sports science and stats, however, data from the gang at oulala.com shows that Drinkwater is in fact in better form than Henderson after the first three game of the season. As the midfielders come head-to-head this weekend, 10 key stats are analysed below.

The Leicester City title winner’s quality has been evident at both ends of the pitch. Drinkwater provided an assist in the recent 2-1 win over Swansea and has taken seven shots on goal himself, while Henderson has barely found a view in the final third among a crowded Liverpool attack.

The 26-year-old has also been more reliable at the back, with three successful aerial duels and six clearances to his name compared to zero and four from the Reds captain – although both have registered the same number of tackles.

Which player will make the bigger impact when the Foxes travel to Anfield tomorrow night?
