Crystal Palace have officially signed midfielder Mathieu Flamini on a one-year contract.

The Frenchman comes to Selhurst Park as a free transfer, having left Arsenal at the end of last season after his second stint with the Gunners.

“Crystal Palace is a very ambitious club with great players and I am looking forward to being part of the squad,” Flamini told the club website.

“It is a very interesting challenge for me and I am very excited to be here. I had the chance to discuss the move here with Alan Pardew and he really helped me make my decision.”

Flamini will add bring experience and creativity to the Eagles, sitting 17th on the Premier League table following a slump in form dating back to January.

“I thought it was important to get another midfield player,” said manager Alan Pardew.

“His playing ability will help us but also his leadership qualities and his ability of how to win games in a passing style. I am delighted that we have secured a player of his stature.”

The 32-year-old recorded 178 appearances and 10 goals during his time at Arsenal.
