Leicester City have confirmed the signing of Sporting Lisbon centre-forward Islam Slimani on a five-year deal.
The Premier League champions have closely tracked the striker’s performances of late but had their initial bid of £25 million rejected.
However, the Foxes’ new bid in the region of £30 million was agreed by the Portuguese club.
The signing bolsters Claudio Ranieri’s attacking options for the season, providing strong competition for striker Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki.
Slimani also has a solid understanding with fellow Algerian international and Leicester City talisman Riyad Mahrez, and could prove dangerous given the opportunity.

The 28-year-old was prolific for the Leões in the Primeira Liga last season, finishing with 27 goals to his name and is a welcome addition at the King Power Stadium.
