Central Coast Mariners coach Tony Walmsley has spoken out about the controversy surround the FFA and the fans this week, saying he and the club would stand by the fans.

Echoing Graham Arnold’s comments yesterday, Walmsley said that the off-field drama has not interfered with his side’s preparation for tonight’s game but emphasises with the fans.

“We can only stand side by side with them,” he said on the Daily Football Show.

“As a senior manager in the organisation along with our CEO Shaun Mielekamp and our captain Nick Montgomery, we’re all happy to stand with the fans on this and help them get the fans they’re looking for.”

The Central Coast Mariners tackle Melbourne City at home tonight on Thursday night football, but Walmsley was very forthright when speaking out the value of Thursday night matches to the league.

“There is no real benefit to the league or the Mariners,” he said.

You can catch his comments and more, including a preview of tonight’s game on today’s Daily Football Show.
