Yann Sommer – Goalkeeper – Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach ended Bayer Leverkusen’s incredible winning streak with a 2-1 win. Die Fohlen managed to beat the in-form visitors with help from an incredible performance from Yann Sommer in between the sticks. The Swiss goalkeeper made seven saves throughout the match as he battled against the talents of Javier Hernandez and Hakan Calhanoglu. The result sees Gladbach effectively seal fourth place on the Bundesliga table.

Constant Djakpa – Left-back – Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt pulled off a brilliant but scrappy 1-0 win against Borussia Dortmund thanks to a dogged defensive effort. Dortmund deployed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the wing, so it was looking like Frankfurt’s flanks were going to receive a pummelling from the black and yellow strike force. However, Constant Djakpa won 80% of his defensive challenges to keep BVB’s attackers at bay and maintain a clean sheet for his side.

Salif Sane – Central-defence – Hannover 96

Hannover have already had their relegation confirmed, but that did not stop them putting on a wonderful performance for their home fans to farewell Bundesliga football for the upcoming season with a 1-0 win over Hoffenheim. Salif Sane put in an outstanding individual display as he won all of his aerial challenges and tackles. The Senegalese defender also made an impressive last man denial to ensure his side kept a clean sheet in their final home game of the Bundesliga season.

Naldo – Central-defence – VfL Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg finally brought a halt to their shocking winless run of seven games with a 1-0 win over Hamburg. Naldo was the first to truly test Hamburg as he had a pacey free-kick saved by Hamburg’s goalkeeper. The Brazilian also won all of his aerial duels as he battled with Pierre-Michel Lasogga throughout the match. In the end, Wolfsburg kept their clean sheet and stole victory as Naldo assisted the winning goal.

Fynn Arkenberg – Right-back – Hannover 96

The only team in the top-flight that has had its relegation confirmed put on an excellent defensive performance in a 1-0 win over Hoffenheim. Fynn Arkenberg was a player who gave the Hannover faithful some hope for their future in German football. The 20-year-old was outstanding as he shut down Kevin Volland and Nadiem Amiri with skill. The youngster is a promising player for the Reds and will most likely have the chance to prove himself in Bundesliga 2  next season.

Karim Onisiwo – Left-wing – FSV Mainz

FSV Mainz took a significant step in their quest for European football with a 3-1 win at the Mercedes Benz Arena. Karim Onisiwo has only started twice for Mainz this season, however, he used his opportunity against to put on an incredible display. The 24-year-old was attacking dynamite as he assisted the opening goal and scored the team’s third of the night. The Austrian could have had more, but was denied by the post in a brilliant overall display and one that puts them in the perfect position to qualify for the Europa League on the final Matchday next week.

Luis Gustavo – Central-midfield – VfL Wolfsburg

Luis Gustavo was instrumental in Wolfsburg ending their winless streak against Hamburg with a 1-0 win. The game was mostly devoid of chances, but the Wolves found their breakthrough after a scramble in the penalty box that saw Gustavo poke home the winning goal from close range. The Brazilian also had a fantastic impact in the midfield, where he won all of his defensive challenges to help maintain a clean sheet for his side.

Jerome Gondorf – Central-midfield – SV Darmstadt

Darmstadt confirmed their place in next season’s Bundesliga with a fantastic 2-1 away victory against Hertha Berlin. The hosts took the lead in the opening 20 minutes and were looking as though they were cruising to victory against the Lillies, who began a stirring comeback starting with Jerome Gondorf’s goal in the 24th minute. The 27-year-old managed to keep Hertha at bay until he assisted the dramatic late winner in the 82nd minute, clinching victory and safety in the Bundesliga.

Leroy Sane – Right-wing – FC Schalke

Schalke’s pacey wing man was sensational, but unable to stop his side succumbing to a 1-1 draw with Augsburg. The German put his incredible dribbling skills on show and he bamboozled the opposition’s defense to take six shots on goal alone. Unfortunately, he was let down by his strikers on the day and his side had to settle for the draw.

Andre Hahn – Striker – Borussia Monchengladbach

Andre Hahn was on form as Gladbach took down Leverkusen in a 2-1 win. The hosts found themselves a goal down within 20 minutes and in need of some inspiration, when Hahn popped-up to score an equalizer late in the first-half and again to steal victory in the final 10 minutes. The 25-year-old was crucial to Gladbach’s fantastic win and ensured that his side will be able to play a UEFA Champions League qualifying match next season.

Robert Lewandowski – Striker – Bayern Munich

It was the result many had predicted and though it came later than expected, Bayern sealed the Bundesliga title with a 2-1 win over Ingolstadt. Robert Lewandowski continued his excellent form this season with a brace as he helped the Bavarians to another piece of silverware. The Polish striker opened the scoring with a well-taken penalty and put the visitors in a comfortable position with his second only 15 minutes later. Lewandowski has now scored 29 goals this season and if he reaches 30 on the final matchday then he will be the first striker to hit that tally in a single Bundesliga season since 1974.
