Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has stated he is satisfied with his side’s 2-0 friendly win against Adelaide United in front of a full-capacity crowd earlier tonight.

Midfielder James Milner and striker Danny Ings both netted in the triumph, with the English outfit virtually in total control for the entire clash.

“I think our objective tonight we achieved, firstly to develop our fitness,” Rodgers said in the post-match press conference.

“I thought that our pressing and intensity in the game was excellent… I thought our performance was very good tonight.”

Rodgers also reserved praise for their opponents Adelaide United, admitting they are coached extremely well and have an adequate understanding of how to play football in the right way.

“I was impressed with the coach [Josep Gombau] and the coaching of the whole team. They played very well, their movement was good, we had to play tactically a good game to stop them playing out,” Rodgers continued.

“They have good players, technical players, clever players that found the space well, I was impressed by their team.

“And again against a very well organised team that play excellent football and play with a good notion of the game and I thought our set up was good and the players played very well.”

Liverpool will now travel to Kuala Lumpur to face the Malaysia XI in the club’s next pre-season match on July 24.
