Leicester City star Jamie Vardy has signed a new four-year deal to remain at the King Power Stadium, despite

In a statement released on the club’s official website, the Premier League champions made it abundantly clear that last season’s top goalscorer remains happy at the East Midlands outfit.

“Both parties hope that this announcement will end recent speculation regarding Jamie’s future and confirm his long term commitment to Leicester City Football Club.

“Jamie will continue to focus all of his efforts on trying to achieve success with the England team at the European Championships in France.”

The striker, currently in France representing England at Euro 2016, netted 24 times in 36 appearances under Claudio Ranieri, and his decision to stay put is a large signal of intent for the upcoming season.

It is a further boost for Leicester, who are reportedly closing in on signing 24-year-old Nampalys Mendy from Nice, as well as being heavily linked with Watford captain and last season’s top goalscorer, Troy Deeney.

The club’s attention may turn to retaining defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante, who has reportedly gained the attention of a number of clubs in England and abroad.
