Bayern Munich have set a new Champions League record for consecutive home wins after beating FC Rostov 5-0 at the Allianz Arena.

Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Juan Bernat and a double from Joshua Kimmich secured a 5-0 win over the Russian side and extended Bayern’s run of consecutive home wins to 13, surpassing the previous record set by Manchester United and Barcelona.

Barcelona still have the opportunity to equal Bayern as they have currently won their last 12 matches at Camp Nou.

Bayern’s streak of home wins’ stretches back to September 2014, where they overcame Manchester City 1-0.

The Bundesliga side has been consistent in the Champions League in recent history, having been a part of the final four sides every season since 2011-12 and lifting the trophy in 2012-13.

Bayern currently sit atop Group D, leading Atletico Madrid on goal difference. PSV Eindhoven and Rostov also make up the group.

Die Roten have not been eliminated at the group stage of the Champions League since the 2002-03 season, having made it out of the group in all 12 campaigns since.
