Lawrence Thomas – Goalkeeper – Melbourne Victory

He is a man who found himself warming the bench for most of the season, but after yet another stellar performance, this time against premiership-chasing Brisbane Roar, Thomas again finds himself in our team of the week. The 23-year-old denied a number of Roar forward thrusts on a number of occasions to ensure the visitors would not leave AAMI Park with the Premiers’ Plate in hand. Some of his saves were spectacular throughout the night.

Jason Geria – Right-back – Melbourne Victory

A player who has hardly put a foot wrong all season and it is easy to see why he was rewarded with a call-up to the Socceroos squad only a few weeks ago. Once again, the youngster was a threat going forward for his side, finding the ball at his feet numerous times. The 22-year-old is fast establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the league.

Dylan McGowan – Centre-back – Adelaide United

A man who has featured in every minute of A-League action this year continued his fine form as his side claimed the Premiers’ Plate following their victory against Melbourne City. Tasked with keeping Bruno Fornaroli quiet, the inspirational defender did his job perfectly, limiting the impact the Golden Boot winner had on the game.

Alberto Aguilar – Centre-back – Western Sydney Wanderers

The 31-year-old made a number of defensive blocks in his side’s 2-0 win against Wellington away from home at the weekend. The Spaniard stood tall for his side as it secured a top two finish and the week off heading into the finals. Aguilar was solid throughout the 90 minutes, playing a key role alongside Nikolai Topor-Stanley in helping his side claim the clean sheet.

Ali Abbas – Left-back – Sydney FC

The inspirational full-back was at his exciting best as the Sky Blues rounded out their A-League season with a 4-0 romp of a finals bound Perth Glory. Abbas grabbed himself a goal with a delicate finish past Ante Covic. The Iraqi was most dangerous when he found himself pushing forward, helping to create numerous chances.

Brandon O’Neill – Central-midfield – Sydney FC

A man who has gone quiet since his team has struggled for form in recent weeks was dynamic as his side won its final game of the season. The Olyroo was arguably the best player on the pitch for his side as it finished its campaign with a bang. The youngster once again took control of the tempo of the game, passing well throughout the 90.

Jacques Faty joins Central Coast Mariners

Isaias – Central-midfield – Adelaide United

The midfielder got his side off to the perfect start on Friday night with a perfect free kick beyond the reach of Thomas Sorensen. From there on in, his side did not look back with Isaias leading United from the front with a professional performance, and for Adelaide fans, hopefully a glimpse of what is to come over the next few weeks.

Ryan Kitto – Central-midfield – Newcastle Jets

The Adelaide-born midfielder produced arguably his best game for the Jets as he laid on three assists in his team’s 4-2 smacking of the Mariners in the final F3 Derby of the season. The 21-year-old played a number of important passes throughout the match as Newcastle ended their season on a high.

Romeo Castelen – Right-wing – Western Sydney Wanderers

The Dutch international has hit his peak form at the right end of the season for the Wanderers and he was in fine tune as his side won 2-0. Castelen played a hand in both the Wanderers’ goals, assisting both of Brendan Santalab’s strikes. His pace proved to be too much to handle for the Phoenix defence throughout the match.

Brendan Santalab – Striker – Western Sydney Wanderers

Just as his team mate had a major say in the outcome of the match, so did the usual super sub, who once again found himself in the starting 11. Santalab repaid the faith shown in him by Tony Popovic as he grabbed a brace to lead his side to the victory as well as a top-two finish and the week off.

Morten Nordstrand – Left-wing – Newcastle Jets

If it was his final game for the Jets, the Danish winger ensured he left his mark on the competition as he led his side to victory with a well taken brace in the six-goal thriller against the Mariners. His tricky dribbling caused problems for a Mariners team that conceded 70 goals for the entire season, a new league record.
