The Reds finally picked up their first win of the season and jumped up into eighth place in the league.

Adelaide United got off to a flying start as Pablo Sanchez found the back of the net after only three minutes. Himself and Marcelo Carrusca were restored to the starting XI and they both looked very dangerous going forward. Perth also had a few chances to level the scores but were not able to take advantage as they went in the break down one 1-0.

The second half proved to be slightly more tense as Adelaide started to look nervous in the dying minutes. Perth continued to create chances but the Reds hung on and picked up their first win of the season.

Adelaide United

Eugene Galekovic – 6.5: Made a number of good saves and his distribution out of the back was good to set up some counter attacks.

Tarek Elrich – 7: He made a number of his trademark barnstorming runs forward and was causing the Perth defenders some issues out wide. He was also good defensively and held shape when needed.

Dylan McGowan – 6: Solid at the back, was caught out a couple of times but recovered well.

Jordan Elsey – 7: Very good and disciplined centre-back performance, hardly put a foot wrong.

Michael Marrone – 7.5: Was excellent on the night as he made a number of intelligent runs forward in support of the attack but was smart enough to not overcommit.

Isaias – 6.5: Sat in the holding midfield role and had excellent distribution. Broke up a number of Perth attacks.

Jimmy Jeggo – 6: An average night out for Jeggo. Was solid on the ball, possibly kept a bit quiet going forward due to his defensive work.

Marcelo Carrusca – 8: Was recalled to the starting XI and produced an outstanding game. His link-up play with the forwards was superb and he was even tracking back and making tackles in his own defensive third.

Pablo Sanchez – 8: Continued to cause Marc Warren troubles on the right wing and scored a delightful little chip to open the scoring in the third minute.

Sergio Cirio – 6.5: Good performance from Cirio as he looked a lot more comfortable on his preferred left hand side.

Bruce Djite – 6: Excellent work rate from Djite as usual and was unlucky to not get on the scoresheet.

Substitutions

Bruce Kamau – 6: Great enthusiasm and intensity shown off the bench as he made great forward runs and pressed the Glory back four.

George Mells – N/A: Not given enough time to have an impact on the match.

Mate Dugandzic – N/A: Not given enough time to have an impact on the match.
